Recurring donations support people like

  • Murray takes pride in being born and raised right here in Gainesville. After high school, he faced challenges in a low-income environment and had his first encounter with the justice system.

With the weight of a criminal record, it became even more difficult to make ends meet. Murray has broken the cycle of poverty and incarceration through his unconditional guaranteed income.

He paid off correctional supervision debt, bought a mobility scooter to get around town and visit his sick mother, and now organizes and provides care for people dealing with illness in our community.

  • For eight months, Kelly held onto a scrap of paper with our website written on it. She'd found it in a newspaper article about our Just Income program while incarcerated

Soon after release, with a newborn in tow, Kelly arrived at Community Spring. But it was too late. Recipients had already been selected and our fellowship class was full.

But, Kelly didn't give up. She kept showing up to focus groups and events and eventually became a Community Spring fellow where she worked on eliminating carceral fines and fees.

Afterwards, she went on to work with other organizations such as Dream.Org, the River Phoenix Center for Peacebuilding, and Released Reentry. And today, she’s our Operations Coordinator.

  • Bobby is a regular participant in our monthly storytelling workshops who transforms his own struggles into messages of hope for others walking similar paths.

Through Community Spring's Storytelling for Change workshops, Bobby has found his voice as both storyteller and healer, crafting letters to fellow justice-impacted community members who are facing the isolation and despair he knows too well.

His words remind us that healing happens in community: "When I do better, you do better and vice versa. The walk is so much smoother when you've got someone else to lean on, so let's succeed together."

These aren't just success stories. They're proof that when we invest in people's potential instead of just managing their problems, entire communities transform.

“I appreciate what's happened in my life and I want to give back, and I want to share and give hope to other people. This income has moved mountains.”

— Murray Wilson, Guaranteed Income Recipient

Together, we can end the cycle of poverty and incarceration.
